A question of corporate etiquette for the masses. If your boss is out of the office on personal time for a week from today, is it rude to give their boss your two weeks notice instead of waiting?

If you are resigning, I don't think that you should wait for your boss to return to the office. This is about you, not the company...

I don't think it's "rude" though some would probably call it bad form. But that, too, would just be an opinion.
Do what's best for Adam.

Your obligation is to the company, not your boss. Giving notice to whoever is there and would be appropriate is A-OK.

When the boss is away, his boss is now yours. Its perfectly okay.

Dude, don't do it. Wait till your boss gets back. Otherwise, it will come back to bite you on your next performance review! :-)

Oh that is just like those horrible algebra questions: 2X - 7Y= resignation notice. I did horrible in Algebra II so I guess I shouldn't have an opinion.
