This has been the longest/shortest week ever. I can barely remember what was happening seven days ago, but it feels like it's barely Tuesday. I forget sometimes how quickly I abandon my regular life when I'm confronted with stress. (And it's that fun stress that I can't write about. Wheeeeeeee!)
I've managed to get most of the cactus spines out of me, but not all of them. The ones that are left don't have any visible protrusions, so basically I have no way to get them out unless I go spelunking in my skin and that seems like a bad idea to me. None of them are particularly bothersome, so I'm going to see if my body will munch on them. None of them are red anymore or inflamed looking, they're just... annoying. Like I'm being constantly tickled with the tips of needles.
Thanks to Dyanna's research, I've gotten some macro rings to work with my 50mm lens. I haven't had a lot of time to play with it, but to give you an idea of the look of the photos and the wicked depth of field I can start playing with...
And as a little parting gift... I cannot explain it, but I am transfixed by this video.

PS, oddly your video doesn't show up in my Firefox browser.

We're not talking big spines here, they're all the size of hairs. As long as the spines aren't poisonous- (which they're not)- your body reacts to them by hardening skin around it and trying to push it to the surface of the skin. If it's deep enough that it can't do that, it'll create a pocket around it and slowly dissolve/absorb the material since it's organic. Sort of the way it does with splinters... obviously it's preferable to not go through it 'cause it's uncomfortable while the process is taking place, but it's not damaging if it has to happen that way.

That video rocks.

Doctors are overrated. If an INTP can't practice mob doctor medicine, no one can.

Umm, maybe this is just something a Canadian would do with access to healthcare without a co-pay but...
Why wouldn't you see a doctor about the cactus spines?
As far as I know, the human body doesn't 'munch' on cactus spines.
