Sausage Fondue
Ingredients
- 1 and 1/2 links of sausage, cut into thirds (or use bulk sausage), browned and drained
- 6 to 8 slices sourdough bread, crumbled
- Shredded cheese (amount as desired)
- Chopped onion (amount as desired)
- Chopped green pepper (optional)
- 4 to 5 eggs
- 2 and 1/2 cups milk (for egg mixture)
- 1/2 cup milk (for topping)
- 1 can mushroom soup
- Butter or grease for a 9x11 inch baking dish
Directions
- Brown the sausage and drain the fat.
- Grease a 9x11 inch baking dish.
- Crumble the sourdough bread and spread it over the bottom of the dish.
- Layer the browned sausage, shredded cheese, chopped onion, and green pepper (if using) on top of the bread.
- Whip together 4 to 5 eggs with 2 and 1/2 cups milk. Pour this mixture evenly over the layered ingredients.
- Refrigerate overnight.
- The next morning, mix 1/2 cup milk with the can of mushroom soup and pour it over the refrigerated mixture.
- Bake at 300°F for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
