In a large bowl, combine the first 10 ingredients. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Whisk milk and egg; stir into crumb mixture just until moistened. Stir in browned sausage.
Turn onto a floured surface and knead 10 times. Transfer to a greased baking sheet. Pat into a 9-in circle and cut into 8 wedges, without separating them.
Bake at 350°F for 28-32 minutes or until lightly browned.
